I think PageRank is not as important for your site, as it is for other sites linking to your site. If a highly ranked website is links to you.

You get more credibility.

Gone were the days, when the importance of pagerank was a lot, i think it has declined now, only site with original content are ruling.

The chase for PR is no longer there, it has now moved to getting links from relevant sites that are in DMOZ and Yahoo directories.

Submit site to the 116 directory list provided. Use different keywords and take 20 sites and do those today. Save the rest for later and only do 20 at any given time.

Getting too many inks all at once hurts sites. Links over time helps sites, and remember you are getting a lot of links elsewhere for client, so take it easy.
